It is not electoral campaign season, but wherever he goes, he draws crowds of supporters. A phenomenon of Brazilian politics.
President Jair Bolsonaro participated in São Paulo, in a motorcycle tour, this Saturday (12), entitled “Accelerate Para Cristo”, organized by evangelical supporters, members of the shooting club and motorcyclists, and which can be included in the Guinness Book as the world’s largest motorcyclist gathering. According to data found on the Twitter of supporters and Government Deputies, who also attended the meeting, they had a total of 1,324,523 motorcycles.
The path was 130 km.
“Greatest motorcycle ride in the world,” wrote the chief executive on social media.
The president arrived by car about 15 minutes before 10 am, was cheered by motorcyclists and greeted his supporters.
Shouts of “This is Bolsonaro”, “Hurray, Bolsonaro” and “This is gigantic” were mixed with the noise of horns and the roar of motorcycle engines.
There were also outcries against the governor of São Paulo, João Doria (PSDB), the president’s political opponent, who joined the Lockdown, closing stores and businesses, causing the bankruptcy of many businessmen and a large increase in unemployment.
Before leaving, he was lifted up and greeted supporters from above.
A “solidarity toll” was set up to receive food donations that will be distributed in needy communities. Two rows of volunteers, mostly wearing masks, welcomed the motorcyclists and distributed Brazilian flags and stickers.
President Bolsonaro has the support of many motorcyclists, who organize themselves in Brazil in several two-wheel clubs. Most of them associate the president, who is an amateur motorcyclist, with the defense of freedom.
Bolsonaro also promoted the reduction of the amount of mandatory insurance and announced the exemption of tolls on federal roads for motorcyclists.
Bolsonaro has published a video on social media, which gathers several excerpts from the tour. The President thanked the supporters and celebrated the event, which already has invitations to the President, for him to participate in other Brazilian States.
“Guys, biggest motorcycle ride in the world. Congratulations, São Paulo. Thanks to everyone present here. Demonstrating strength, unity, democracy and our auditable vote. Thanks, guys!”, says the President of the Republic.
“There is no country more blessed and richer than ours”. Bolsonaro continued.
He lamented the deaths due to the coronavirus, but said that only those with comorbidities or advanced age should stay at home.
“The rest, the people have to work”. Bolsonaro also reinforced the use of drugs such as hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin as “early treatment” against Covid-19.
With this motorcycle tour, the city of São Paulo had a heating up in the hotel, food and motorcycle rental sectors.
After the motorcycle ride, Bolsonaro spoke and thanked the military police who provided security for the event.

“You (military police) are auxiliary to the Armed Forces. I’m sure that, by complying with law and order, by complying with constitutional provisions, we will be together no matter what happens”, said Bolsonaro.
The president repeated that the Army will not go to the streets to enforce any measures such as curfews determined by governors and mayors to contain Covid-19, as well as repeated that the Army can be mobilized to, according to him, guarantee the right to come and go.
“We hope that a legal measure is not necessary, but a forceful one, to enforce the provisions of our Constitution”, said Bolsonaro.
At the beginning of the event, the president was embraced by some military police who were responsible for the safety of the motorcycle tour and some PMs took pictures with him.
